Question

Using the Animation Presets Transition - Movement, how do I adjust the start point?

I’ve applied various Animation presets from the Transition - Movement folder, and they all want to start in the upper left corner. Because I’m using more than one, I’d like to have them come from the left, then the middle and then the right side for each of the items. But nothing I adjust in the effets panel seems to have any effect on the start point. The anchor and position are controlled by expressions so I can’t simply keyframe the anchor point. Adjusting the layer’s position and Anchor point only affect the ending location, even if I use keyframes.

Hi! That's expected behavior — those Transition > Movement presets drive Position (and anchor) with expressions, which is why keyframing the start point directly doesn't work.

The easiest fix: select the layer's Position property and choose Animation > Convert Expression to Keyframes. That bakes the preset's motion into regular keyframes, and then you can simply drag the first keyframe wherever you want the move to start (left, center, right — whatever each item needs).

Just to clarify the part that confused you: after the preset is applied, the layer's Position value itself controls where the move ends, not where it begins. That's why your adjustments only changed the ending location.
