vectors stroke can not be adjusted

I wasted 2 hours on tech support in India today and wanted to see if anyone know how to solve this issue. 

 

A layer is not selected. I create a path. I want to annimate this path. The bug is you can not just change the size of the stroke. I put all sorts of numbers in and thge size does not change. I absolutely dont want to fill the line because it gives me crazy shapes. Asos, after you create the vectored path, you can not locate he stroke and fill options anywhere.

Working with a shape layer but the stroke settings aren't visible. After creating the path, make sure it's a shape layer, not a mask. Then twirl down the layer (Contents > Shape > Stroke) to adjust the stroke size changing numbers there should work. If Stroke isn't listed, click "Add" and choose Stroke. If Fill creates weird shapes, you can delete it under the same Contents section.

I assume you've tried resetting preferences and basic fixes like that?

Screenshots would be helpful.

Thanks for responding. I was in mask mode. That problem has been resolved. Thank you. 
The other issue is once you create a pen path and if you stop for a moment and come back to finish it starts a 2nd path. I tried everything.

With the pen tool. Click on the end point of the path you want to continue. 

The tools picks up the path and can now continue it.

Can you post a screenshot?  From your description, with no layer selected, that should have create a shape layer with a stroke and a fill.  You can delete or turn off the fill and you should be able to adjust the stroke.  

It sounds like maybe, despite your best efforts, you've accidentally created a mask path, but I should be able to help more when I can see your timeline.
