Version 23 has killed After Effects on Mac

I decided to do a quick update to version 23 on my fully specced (M1 Max) Macbook Pro and the application is now unusable. I'm literally trying to playback a H.264 in a HD comp and it's incredibly laggy. That and a number of my scripts no longer work. WTF have you done Adobe?! Please fix ASAP.

I feel your pain. I don't know why I keep updating. I suppose I do so hoping that the next update will work well as the software did several iterations ago. Each update sucks more and more. My advice is don't update again until Adobe employs competent software and UX engineers. How we will know when that happens, I haven't a clue.

Hey tomh153545,

Welcome to the community, and sorry for the issue. Do you see this issue specifically with h.264 files? Please check if you have any OS updates available since mac OS updates include graphics drivers. Also, try purging the memory and disk cache (Edit >Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache) and see if that makes any difference. Please note that regenerating cache files would take some time. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Ishan
