Hi everyone. I have new pc with 12900kf 64ram rtx3050 and fast ssd.. But today I noticed that AE 2023 just cant play Full HD and even HD footage downloaded from youtube. Its just a 55min file. But AE cant play it in relatime. It use all my 64gb ram and start throtling. Now I tryed to export this 55min 1920x1080 mp4 footage into prores 422 but it also take about 55 min to complete. Any suggestions why its doing so slow on such powerfull PC?

Hi Sergey24220961932e,

Thanks for writing in.

In my opinion, the behavior you're getting from After Effects is normal. After Effects is mostly used for working on short clips and motion graphics. 55 min. is a long duration. The way After Effects calculates and generates previews differs from video editing apps like Premiere Pro. Here's an article for more details: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/faq-why-doesn-t-after-effects-preview-in-real-time-like-premiere-pro/td-p/10690804

Feel free to reach out if there are any other questions.

Thanks,

Nishu

Standard answer: Check yourt graphics driver and hardware acceleration settings. Aside from that Youtube videos use adpative data rates and framerates, so what you see is pretty much normal. As a compositing app AE simply is terrible at dealing with this stuff and prefers constant data rates and consistent framerates. Conversions may be inevitable.

Hello Mylenium,
Thank you for the reply. Currently I use 512.77 nvidia driver for my RTX3050. I also have checked my project settings when noticed slow performance and switch it to CUDA from Mercury software only. Or under Hardware Acceleration you meant something different?
