Is there a setting I need to customize? Or is it my computer's specs that's affecting the playback of the video I have inserted? It's hard to do animation on top of the video if the speed varies from slow to normal and vice versa.

Specs of my machine:

  • MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)
  • Processor: 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
  • Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
  • Graphics: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
  • Available flash storage: 49.76GB out of 250GB

Thanks in advance

Sorry, I don't clearly understand your problem.

Do you mean the speed of the composition playback changes/varies when you preview?  Or when you render?

If you are talking about preview playback speed, you need to allow AE to cache rendered frames into RAM before you will get smooth playback.  Set your work area to a small section from preview - usually no more than 10 seconds or so - hit the space bar and then wait for all frames to render before viewing smoothly.

Hi, I meant when I preview. How do I cache rendered frames?
