Question

VR Exports

Hi

I am hoping someone may have some information about VR exports from After Effects.

I have started looking into 360 video/animations and found them to work fine when exporting and uploading to YouTube.

Sadly however they don't work when we use a third party script:

daysinvr/projects/day30 at master · realitypipe/daysinvr · GitHub

But if we upload to you tube then download it again it works with the script......

So my question is... what extra coding is added on YouTube to change they way they work and can this be done from exporting from After Effects?

I have noticed that the exports at 2:1 is 4096 x 2048 with VR Projection.

The video from YouTube are 1280 x 720 without VR Projection.

Many Thanks

Tim

These are simply metadata and streamflags that are recognized by the players. Since there is no generic VR video format, everyone uses their own proprietary set of rules and that is that. you can only ever tailor your content to a specific provider and its player. One of the sad truths about VR.

Thank you for your response... So next question is... how can I strip and adjust the meta data on my file?

The Adobe Media Encoder has options for setting VR flags for YouTube.
