Wait... why does my animation look different after exporting?! 😕

Hi everyone,

 

Okay, so this might be a really dumb question, but I'm honestly confused.

 

I made my very first animation in After Effects. Nothing crazy — just some text moving around and a few shapes. On my screen, inside the software, it looked exactly how I wanted. I was so proud of myself!

 

But then I exported it... and when I put it on my website, it looked kinda... off? Like the colors were a little dull, and it seemed slower than before. I don't even know if I used the right export settings because I basically just guessed and pressed "render."

    Hi, welcome to After Effects!

    To help narrow down what's happening, could you share:

    1. Your system specs and exact After Effects version (Help > About).

    2. Screenshots of the animation as it looks in After Effects versus how it looks on your website.

    3. A screenshot of your export settings (Render Queue > Output Module Settings).

    4. Open the exported file in a regular media player (VLC, QuickTime, or Windows Media Player) and check if the colors and timing look correct there. If they match the AE preview in the media player but only look off on the website, the issue is on the website side (video compression during upload, embed player color handling, etc.) rather than the export.
