Wave warp in specified area

Question

how to make the wave warp effect be like the top part of the wave warp is high in strength and the bottom part is low? I tried the mask + compositing option but that made it look like the layer was cut off and mask feather made it a little weird.

Duplictae the layer, mask it the old-fashioned way. No point wasting your time with that compositing options nonsense. Mylenium
