what kind of layer is this

Hi,

I am learning expressions. I know I can use text layer as a editor to experiment any expression because it take all four types of values in Ae (number,string,boolean,array).

I am following one tutorial. But these guys are not using text layer to experiment expressions/or apply control! 😮 what kinda layer is this? 😮

plz help. :'(

There is no need to turn a null layer into a Guide layer. Guide layers will no render in the final render or when nested (pre-composed) in another composition. If the tutorial's author turned a Null to a guide layer, I would be careful about the workflow suggestions. They may be inefficient or buggy.

It looks like a Null layer that has been named "Controller" and turned into a guide layer (Layer > Guide Layer).
