what's the workflow for editing a clip in after effect from premiere pro timeline

Hi,

i already have my project build in my timeline in premiere pro, i just wanted to try to add some effects in AE. what is the best workflow and best pratices i should be doing?

i tried to select a clip and right click on " replaced with aftereffect composition" after my edit i saved my work, and the next time load the project on permiere pro, the clip that replaced with AE is missing, shows the red Media offline message. i had tried a few time with the same result, my workflow must be incorrect, can someone point me to the right path?
