Question

When I attempt to use Trim Paths to outline a Vector image, the image is getting filled in with the stroke color. Not sure sure how to fix it.

I’m trying to use trim paths on a vector image to trace the path of a box. Instead of trimming the path of the box, the entire box is filling up with the outline color. Not sure what’s going on there. I’ve attached a video for reference.
Thanks and stay curious!

    Hi there,

Thanks for the post. It looks like the vector artwork may have been converted to a filled shape rather than a simple stroked path.

In the Shape Layer, twirl open Contents and check whether you have a Fill instead of a Stroke. For Trim Paths to trace the outline as expected, try using a simple path with Stroke enabled and Fill set to None.

If the artwork came from Illustrator, you may also need to check how the original stroke was created before converting it to a Shape Layer in After Effects.

    Hope that helps!
