So, when I import my screen recording of a game (in 4:3) into a 16:9 comp it has this really weird glitch (photo below). I'm trying to import it into a 16:9 comp so i can strech it and edit it, but this always happens and i dont know how to fix it. I've tried matching the comp settings to the video but that doesnt work. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Lachlan_Mc,

Thanks for writing in.

I agree with Mylenium. Screen recorded footage is known to cause all sorts of issues. I'd transcode the footage before importing into After Effects using Hand Brake or a similar app.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Nishu

Nothing to do with AE. You need to transcode your screen footage and/ or make sure you record it with consistent standards-compliant specs. what you see is a typical artifact of screen codecs employing their dirty tricks liek using weird pixel aspect ratios to optimise compression, variable frame rates or including "garbage" off-screen buffer data that throws off professional apps which expect anything to be to proper specs.
