Why are my AE CC 2017 files getting saved in AE CC 15 versions?

I have been working for hours the past 2 days in AE CC 2017 on several projects. Today, I tried to look back at them, and I cannot open any of them. I get an error saying that this project was created with AE 15.1.2, and that I can't open it with my version. I am 100% sure I haven't changed versions in the past day, let alone when I restarted my computer to continue working. This is how I discovered my error. What is going on?

    your are getting a message saying you are trying to open a project created in CC2018.

    see if you got CC2018 installed. you can have it alongside your other CC versions. you should open this project in CC2018.
