I've looked for this answer everywhere and the only answer I found was here https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects/why-does-my-path-change-position-when-i-paste-it-to-a-mask-or-position/m-p/6036243#M7451

and still, it does not help me.
So let's settle this for once and for all.
How DO I SOLVE THIS?

Hello (maybe it's better to start with this)

As explained in the reference post, modified paramteters in your layer/comp may get this problem...

For example, if you change the scale of the target and/or of the origine of your path, then this will not work.

To solve it, you need to pre-compose the layer/comp that are not set with all default parameters with moving all the attributes into the new comp, then trace your path or copy it on its position.

That sort of helped me. Although it's following it its path now, the layer is getting cut off

Changing the new pre-composition's size to the same as the main composition solved it! Thanks, val.
