why dont i have any tools? theres no pen tool, no mask tool, etc.

the entire bar is gone and it hasnt been there ever since ive gotten ae. im so confused.

Try changing your workspace using the Tool Bar or the Menu. If you double click a workspace name on the toolbar it will give you the option to reset the workspace. Just answer Yes and your toolbar should return.
