Why is AE25 so incredibly slow?

I am rendering a 1 minute credit scroll with an mp4 of bloopers next to it in AE2025 v25.3.2 (build 2). See image attached.

This should not take more than a couple minutes. Why is it taking 4½ hours? It was going so slowly I cancelled and used AME instead, but am getting the same render time.

I am on Windows 10 with 32GB RAM, i9 11900KF processor @ 3.5GHz with a 12GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti card (it's an Alienware system).

I don't recall such bizarrely slow render times in the past, especially for such a simple comp.

Thanks for sharing the file. I am getting the same results on my end. I reached out to the devs. They suggested that Advanced 3D is built to perform best with 3D models. For such projects, it's best to use the Classic 3D renderer.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

I think I figured it out. I noticed my AE was in Advanced 3D mode. When I changed it to Classic 3D instead, it rendered in 8 mins instead of 4.5 hours. Man, that Advanced 3D mode is not worth even having!

Glad that you were able to find the root cause. If possible, can you share the files anyway so that we can investigate?

I totally agree, TLWestgate68. This is slow.

Did you use any effects in the Comp? Could you share a screenshot of the export settings? I see that you're exporting to a "V" drive? Is it a server/external storage location? Is your project and media file saved at the same location? If so, bring them to a local location and export to the same location. It'll help us narrow down the issue.

Let me know.

No effects were used. Just a text scroll and an 55 second MP4 I slid into frame from the right. Both layers had the 3D switch on with motion blur. My V drive is a local HDD inside the computer for all my video work. There's never been a slow down like this. The export was in 4K.

Thanks for getting back. Can you check if disabling the Motion Blur helps? If that doesn't bring a significant difference in the render time, can you share the project file with media with us for testing? Feel free to share it via DM if you prefer not to share it publicly.

Looking forward to your response.
