Why is my preview black ( logo ) issues

Question

I have used a template to create a logo reveal for work, i am very new to AE and was wondering why whe ni import my image its the normals colours but when i go to preview it the logo is black? i think the teplate maybe added a fill to the original  text, i did manage to fizx this but accdiently did undo and now i have forgotten.

Without any info on how this screen gradient spot is created we honestly can't tell you much. You have to twirl open the relevant properties on the timelien or show us the effects palette. On a hunch I'd say you have enabled sopme compositing options/ blending mode that doesn't work when passed through, but of course it could be anything.
