Question

Will we ever give up?

In my opinion, since CS2, Adobe programs were like a friend helping out with your independent filmmaker productions. So, we could film an entire feature film in green-screen, because your friend would be there for you. Sure, there were bugs, however, there were also good times too.

According to adobe.com; “To create something genuinely amazing, you need genuine Adobe software...Only our world-class Creative Cloud apps and services deliver the innovation and performance you need to create anything you can imagine, anywhere you are.”.

I registered After Effects Oct 2, 2013, and yet, my genuine Adobe serial was stolen, reactivate by

someone or something in Piscataway, NJ. My AE program deactivated, my creative cloud program stopped working, and I can not log in or out of After Effects, nor can I uninstall any of it now, and I didn't get one email about any of it.

If “At Adobe we're committed to protecting the security, privacy, and availability of

our products, systems, and data... ” and “Empowering every voice.”...then it is my opinion that I have been targeted and my voice has been taken away, unless...I am no longer seen as someone who should have a voice, and they are not committed customers who have paid since 2013.

So, I cannot afford to take more time away from my projects. To wait in phone-line

during a new release or chat with a search engine, and beg to use what I have now. Especially with a green-screen feature, and other film projects which remarkable actors and their families are eager to see. Nor after paying an extra two months trying to get help, trust the software not to do it again costing me thousands in plugins, and shutting down my business.

In my opinion, if a company is inflated by the owners investing in the company stock, not the most valuable assets, the employees, to build working software that may help others...If the Chairman and CEO sells stock, while we get something not even worthy of Shovelware, it is something I no longer support, and that's all the support I can give you.

If the programs work for you, swell. My subscription is now canceled.

Sincerely,

JE

Sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience.  Frankly, I don't see how a registered serial number could get registered a second time.  I know when I've confused my serial numbers and accidentally entered one that's in use already that Adobe Applicaton Manager (the predecessor to Creative Cloud Desktop in use with CS2) would present a message that the serial number is already in use.

After Effects has been a game changer since it was Cosa After Effects version 1.0, by version 4 it was competing with Inferno which costing $200,000 a year for the software license alone running on a Silicon Graphics workstation the size of a refridgerator, and AE's still going strong.  I know that some are not happy with paying either $20/month for it or $53/month, but frankly that's the deal of the century.  After Effects used to be $895 for the standard version and $1,295 for the production version, you had to purchase two licenses if doing cross platform work, and the Adobe Font Folio ran about $6,000 (assuming you wanted access to every font - otherwise you'd buy them one font family at time).  Sure, it would be amazing if there was a Motion Graphics bundle that similar to the Photo bundle that's just $10/month; however, I don't expect to work at a lower rate or for free.  As such, I don't expect what software publishers create to be free either.

Warren,

Exactly. How could it get registered a second time? In my opinion, as far as I'm concerned, I registered and that was it. I've also never been to Piscataway, NJ. So, how can one not feel targeted?

Thanks for the history and somewhat sales pitch, but, I guess you have to do that. Except the single software is currently $20.99/mo...99 cents doesn't seem like a lot, until you start counting it up. For example, if I got Adobe Font Folio for about $6,000 and/or just the two licenses at $1,295 for the production version, as you wrote, it would still be less then what I spent on my software and plugins, from 2013 to 2021. That doesn't sound like a deal to me, but, to each their own, I guess.

Not only that, but extra stress and my time wasted, my business being shut down...Can you imagine how much I've lost? One could say I'm not worth that much, but, you'd have to know me.

Sincerely,

Was your CS2 license purchased from an Adobe authorized reseller?

If we factor in CS2 Master Collection, which was about $2,795 and Adobe Font Folio at $6,000, that's 165 months of an All Apps Inididual Plan (13.8 years).

Through the-mid to late 1990s, I used to budget $3,000/year for 3rd party After Effects plug-ins.  The cost does add up.
