Working in 32bpc, can't use remove grain or match grain because it clips color range.

I would have thought that included tools should handle all possibilities for our needs as users of the software but there doesn't seem to be support for this. I need to remove grain in a 32 bpc workflow and then match grain to the original plate. AE has two effects for this, but neither supports working in 32 bpc. Even if I use a plugin or other software to output a degrained plate they have no way to add and match the grain from the plate. I know about Neat video, but I don't want to buy only half the solution and I'd love something that would match the grain.

    I'm running into this also. I've found that Red Giant Software's Renoiser does a similar thing to Add Grain, and is 32bit. That's an incredibly expensive way to match grain though, especially for something that should be incredibly basic (adding noise).

     

    I really hope Adobe updates add grain to be 32bit, but until then, Renoiser is kinda the only option that I've found.

      Renoiser adds noise, not grain. It's also not providing the same type of functionality match grain does. It doesn't move. Best result I got in AE was making a pre-comped grain pass by dividing the plate by the denoised plate which leaves you with a grain pass you can multiply over any denoised assets. I installed a trial of the Red Giant suite and was underwhelmed. The plugins all seem so weirdly specific. They have a grain generator, but only a 16mm one?!? What's that about? I didn't know their was a huge clamoring for that specific grain. Thanks for looking though... I love Neat Video degrain, but really wish they had a way to match grain as well as they remove it.
