Hi beta users!

Version 25.1.0 (Build 5 or later) of After Effects Beta introduces support for the Accepts Lights switch in Advanced 3D.

Accepts Lights is on by default. When you turn off Accepts Lights on a 3D layer, that object will bypass all the lights and shadows in your scene and appear to be lit by basic ambient illumination instead, with only base color and emissive textures displayed. This allows for new 3D compositing and effect workflows and provides a quick path to simulating self-illuminated 3D elements like phone screens:

[Accepts Lights On]

[Accepts Lights Off]

Accepts Lights is also supported in the Classic 3D and Cinema 4D renderers.

Please give this new functionality a try and let us know how it’s working for you.
