In After Effects Beta 25.1 Build 36, we are pleased to announce Quick Set Anchor, a more efficient way to change the anchor point on your 2D layers to any of 9-commonly-used-points — all the corners and centers of your layer’s edges. And it's available both from the Properties Panel and anywhere else by keyboard shortcut! Quick Set Anchor can be launched by selecting a layer (or layers!) and clicking the new Anchor Point icon next to the Anchor Point property in the Properties Panel, creating a temporary pop-over Quick Set Anchor Dialog that allows you to click your preferred anchor point location, automatically close the dialog, and be on your way!   Besides the Anchor Point button in the Properties Panel, you can also bring up the Quick Set Anchor Dialog by using the keyboard shortcut Shift + Tab to create the temporary pop-over right below your mouse, ready for you to click your anchor point of choice without taking your eyes away from your comp content. I have a project which crashes AE every time I use the rotobrush, without exception. Steps to reproduce:Open the project I’ve previously created a rotobrush shot on (using v.4.0 of the Object Matte effect).Open the comp, double-click the layer.Click Freeze to unfreeze...or don’t - it makes no difference whether it’s frozen or not.Using either the Quick Selection Tool or Selection Brush Tool, draw a stroke - anywhere, it does not matter. Interestingly, the Object Matte tool does not crash AE, but it does not create the effect I want - it selects too much, so I need to use one of the brush tools. Result:AE crashes, with message:After Effects (Beta) error: crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in “Roto Brush & Refine Edge”. Expected:No crash. System info    Application: After Effects (Beta) v26.3.0.30    OS: Windows v10.0.26200, RAM: 127.91 GB GB, CPUs (logical): 32

For some reason, it only seems to work well on the very first frame. smooth edge and well defined nooks and crannies. I advance one frame and it becomes all blocky and loses all of the edges it just had, without anything moving in the frame.

I’ve just updated AE Beta to 26.3.0x16, and noticed that the highlighting of moused-over items in the main menus is so pale that it’s almost non-existent. Here, I’ve moused-over “Preview”, not that you can really tell: Here’s a nice, clear menu in Photoshop: What’s going on with AE’s menus? Interestingly, Illustrator suffers from the same rubbish pale-menu problem too: 

26.3.0 (Build 10)Instant crash when dropping any item onto the “Make a new folder” icon at the bottom of the Project window.

The object matte tool is not working in the latest version of After Effects Beta (on Mac OS 15.7.4 (24G517) with a late 2017 iMac Pro. I tried everything, but the option doesn’t show up. I double clicked the footage so I’m in the right footage window but even the icons do not appear. Is my system or OS too old maybe?

Comp is 59.94 and is output to 1080i 29.97, but the rendered animation is double the correct speed. I can't paint or use a brush with the mouse.

Like in the title. All substance materials that are not used in any 3d meshes are removed from project panel during saving. If it’s intentional it should be a preference during saving? I’m pretty sure I’ll be making projects with a full folder of substance materials - a project material library of sorts - that I’ll want to be switching between while working. It will be impossible if every time I save the project. all unassigned materials disappear :/

The Advanced 3D Renderer is making slow but steady progress. However there are really two main areas I’d like to highlight here that severely limits artists to leverage having decent 3D renderer native in AE. HDRI WorkflowUsing an Environment Light with an HDRI assigned has limitations.You can’t rotate the environment inside the Environment Light You can't utilize the HDRI layer's effects to influence the Environment Light as it reads source only. You can precomp your HDRI and manipulate it before hand but now AE does not know that the data should be kept linear instead of the automatic gamma conversion for the purposes of the Environment Light. You can linearize the data manually, but now there is a new problem where if you want to use the same HDRI also as a backdrop, you cannot apply the gamma again because for Compositions, effects applied on it's layer in the maincomp DO get taken in to account for purposes of Environment Light where as the direct HDR file as a layer does not have

A custom titlebar for after effects in windows like the Photoshop. Ik its useless but will look more cool

From Premiere Pro beta, when I try to create a dynamic link, it creates a link, and it will create a comp in After Effects beta as well, but no clip, text comes from Premiere pro to after effcts beta

 The ProblemIn Shape Layers, the “Anchor Point” in the Shape Transform group only affects Scale and Rotation, but not Size.When animating the Size property (e.g., of a Rounded Rectangle), the shape grows or shrinks symmetrically from the center, regardless of where the anchor point is.This makes it impossible to do natural-looking directional growth (e.g., “expand downwards from the top edge”) unless you hack around it. Here's an example:I have a Rounded Rectangle.I move its Shape Transform anchor point to the top edge.If I animate Scale, it respects the anchor point, but the rectangle gets distorted (stretchy look) instead of staying proportional.If I animate Size, the proportions are preserved, but the anchor point is ignored — it always expands outward evenly in all directions.Why I think the anchor point should affect the "Size" property: Motion designers often want shapes to “grow from” or “shrink into” a specific edge or corner (like buttons, UI panels, progress ba

After two years since Spectrum 2 was announced, I expected to see something at the recent Adobe MAX, but that wasn't the case.A year ago some minor changes were introduced to AE, but I was wondering if in the coming months we will actually see a redesign based on Spectrum 2. Thanks team.

It's a minor thing, but often I have longer filenames and have been using comments to keep track of some things as well. However, if the text is too long, the source / file name gets an ellipsis at some point in the middle of the text, and comments are simply truncated (and sometimes it is not even obvious that this is happening). Making the columns wider helps, but then takes up valuable screen real estate.  Would be great to show a tooltip with the full text when the mouse hovers over these. It honestly is a feature that seems standard in many UIs, and I was expecting one to appear initially when I first started messing with After Effects.

We are excited to announce the public beta release of Windows on ARM native support in After Effects 25.6 build 7! We expect After Effects to run on all Qualcomm Snapdragon X-based laptops and tablets.We do have some known issues that differ from those in the emulated beta, and we will update as we resolve them: Lack of format support, mostly notably ProRes (supported as of 25.6 build 34), but also including ARRIRAW, SWF, GoPro CinePro, JPEG20000 in MXF, and WMV. These formats cannot be imported or exported. This means that the High Quality and High Quality with Alpha settings will default (with a helpful warning) to the uncompressed QuickTime codec. No import of MotionJPEG and MKV. No hardware accelerated playback & export of H.264 and HEVC in MP4. (Playback supported as of 25.6 build 66) Keylight and Mocha are not yet available (there is a warning about them being missing on launch). The Cinema 4D renderer and related C4D features (e.g. Cineware) are not yet available. Third-p

The links added refer to my old discussion and ideas posts on those topics.   I'd like to see OCIO platform being updated to the latest version which includes built-in ACES 2.0 configs. I also want to stress again that ACES 1.2 should really be removed. By the time OCIO support was released it was already superseeded by ACES 1.3 which uses formula based transforms and there is no reason to keep these dependencies (430Mb of LUT files) in the installation and the config exposed to the user.  If users for whatever reason still want to use a legacy config they can download it themselves. LINK   Especially with ACES 2.0 it would be quite stupid to have 3 configs of ACES 1 still in the software making it a list of 5 configs... LINK   Also the ACES 1.3 configs should be updated to from config-v1.0.0_aces-v1.3_ocio-v2.1 to config-v2.2.0_aces-v1.3_ocio-v2.4   It would be nice in general to see more love for OCIO support in AE. Is there a way to access the "Mesh type" property(?) of the new ParametricMeshLayer (Cube, Sphere, Plane etc)? I tried but can't find a way.
