Improved 3D Text Extrusion in After Effects Beta 26.1x9
We're excited to share an improvement to 3D Text Extrusion in today's beta update, 26.1x9. This update significantly improves how fonts render with overlapping paths and interior holes when extruded.
With the introduction of Variable Font Animation, we were reminded that many fonts aren’t designed with 3D extrusion in mind. This became particularly apparent when animating font axes, where overlapping paths and letter holes change over time and could cause faces to be incorrectly filled in, overlap or disappear.
Text that's extruded to 3D now automatically cleans up overlapping paths before extrusion, resulting in much cleaner geometry and more reliable rendering. While variable fonts helped expose the issue, the fix ensures better 3D extrusion quality for both variable and non-variable fonts alike.

If you've encountered fonts that don't extrude correctly, we'd love for you to test them in this build and share your results with us. Your feedback helps us continue improving this feature.
