Thumbnail in Project Panel is blank

In AE 22.1.1x68, the Project Panel's thumbnail is always just black (or purely transparent if Thumbnail Transparency Grid is on) regardless of whatever comp, solid, .ai file, .mp4 file is selected.

Composition > Set Poster Time does nothing.
