Why Transparency, Transparency Rolloff, Index of Refraction are always there ?

With the CINEMA 4D renderer, the properties : Transparency, Transparency Rolloff, Index of Refraction are always there (but shaded) for Shape and Text Layer (when we add properties in the layers, the ones we are going to look for in Front, Bevel, Side, Back). These properties were there for the Renderer : Ray-traced 3D. Are they there for ever in memory of the lost soldier Ray-traced, or is it going to be reactivated one day?
