Question

Animation not exporting as expected

Right now my two main problems are, i export as a swf, i get in the output window, layer effects are disabled in SWF, this is an issue as i use them often in the animation. Second is when i export it seems to show items outside of the stage, i would like it to not do that. I understand some people say the fix to the first one is to disable "optimise for after effects" I actually intend to import to after effects or premeire pro in order to finish the post production of the animation such as adding audio effects and titlecards.

For the first problem, please tell us what version of Animate you have installed.

To import the SWF into After Effects you have to disable all effects from Animate, since After Effects does not support them. The "Optimize for After Effects" option effectively disables all effects on the SWF output for this purpose, which means that right now it's either one or the other, can't have both.

A workaround for this is to export as a PNG sequence or a Quicktime mov video with transparency.

    Here's how: https://youtu.be/xu5qNw4kgug

Both formats can be used to further edit your animation in After Effects or Premiere.

For the second problem, you see objects outside the stage because the SWF is just the animation at runtime, don't confuse it with a rendered video. You may resize the player window with your mouse to visualize the edges of the stage. These borders will be properly clipped once the project is exported to video.

Thank you, im exporting now but running into a different issue, i get to 86%, and it seems to get stuck, furthermore the temp file it is creating keeps increasing in size, and since i'm running animate on my SSD, i keep running out of space causing it to completely stop the export, is there a way to change which drive it uses as a scratch disk?

The temp file is big since Animate generates an uncompressed video file during the rendering process which is then sent to Media Encoder to transcode into the target format. Once the rendering is complete this temp file is removed. You can calculate the amount of space you will need using this online tool: https://www.omnicalculator.com/other/video-size

If there is a way to export as say an mkv (Not picky) that would actually be easier to work with
