Question

Coding in Animate is horrible

I was trying to learn some javascript. I'm not good at coding, but can get stuff done with actionscript as I've used it since 2001 or so. Haven't really done anything interactive in Animate in years so I started with something easy: pressing a button makes the timeline go to a certain frame.

So first off the frame numbering is different from actionscript. In EaselJS the first frame is 0 and in Actionscript it's 1. Ok, I can live with that, but what I can't live with or understand is why the frame numbering in Animate's timeline won't start from 0 then?

I understand that this would be the case for projects that use ActionScript, but if you do a project file in HTML5 that uses javascript it uses the same frame numbering system and this makes everything so difficult to work with or understand.

Add insult to injury everytime you export the project you get an output error message reminding you of the frame numbering being different from what you see in the timeline. Is this how Adobe fixes their illogical design; just remind the user that the developers are aware how trash their product is so it's ok?

Funniest or sadest thing is I found people on this forum talking about this in ealy 2016 and speculating how Adobe probably will fix this issue on next versions.

Last message on that thread sums up well how I feel about this:
