Access downloads on imac

How do I access my downloads folder on my iMac using bridge? When I chose my user file and navigate to what would normally be the downloads folder, it is marked as an alias and is empty when chosen by bridge. Is this an Adobe thing or a MAC thing?

What version of Bridge and macOS? Bridge can resolve aliases, so that shouldn't matter.
