Adobe Bridge CC - Photo Downloader doesn't recognize WD My Passport Wireless Pro when plugged in via USB

I've got both .NEF and .JPG images on a Western Digital My Passport Wireless Pro external hard drive.  When I plug this drive into my iMac, the Mac itself recognizes the drive and I'm able to see (and copy) the files using the Mac's Finder program.

However, when I open Adobe Bridge and select "Get Photos from Camera" (which brings up the "Adobe Bridge CC - Photo Downloader" window/utility) or "Import from Device" (which opens a "Import from Device" utility that I admittedly haven't used much), it doesn't acknowledge that I've got any device connected to the Mac that has photos on it.

I can copy all of the files from my MyPassport drive to my iMac using Finder, but then the files will have the goofy "DSC_<number>" type names instead of a useful name that I can apply using the "Adobe Bridge CC - Photo Downloader" utility.

As I type this note, it occurs to me that the Photo Downloader also doesn't recognize that any of my other external drives exist.  (It recognizes when I plug in a USB thumb drive or - of course - SD card.) How do I change that?

How can I pull images off the hard drive using the Photo Downloader utility?

Thanks,

Ian Gibbs

I don't think you can change this but you can easily rename them to more suitable names by using the Batch Rename function in Bridge.
