Question

Adobe Bridge not searching all my folders

Just downloaded Bridge to my Mac running Ventura.

All my images are on a seperate HDD so I set up bridge to search within the correct folder (and subfolders) on that drive.

If I conduct a search for a specific keyword (which I know is there) Bridge fails to find the images with that keyword stating 'No iems to display'.

I'm finding this very frustrating as have tried various DAM applications and none of them have achieved what I wanted so Bridge was my last hope.

Hi, @Richard4911. Have you pressed the arrow to the right of the search field to let Bridge know where to search (and with what tools?

In addition, have you given Permission to Bridge to access external hard drives (and the Desktop)? If not, here are the instructions.

Simply, this is an Apple protection issue, not Adobe's issue.

Go into the System Preferences and select the Privacy & Security tab on the left. Note that there are two options on the right you'll need to deal with: "Files and Folders," and "Full Disk Access."

First, going into Files and Folders, note that in various years of different releases of Adobe Bridge, different needs are needed. I do not know why this is, but it's always better to check and make sure that just because you did it for one release, you may or may not need it for a subsequent release.

Lastly, go into the Full Disk Access option. If you do not see your application in the list, click on the "+" symbol at the very bottom of the window. This will bring up a standard Finder window. Navigate to your Applications Folder, find Adobe Bridge, and add it to the list (You will need to add your Administrator's password to do this.). Then you can "switch" it to the "ON" position.

This should solve your problem.

Please let us know if that works or not.

Gary,

Thank you so much for a very comprehensive response; it's much appreciated.

My images are stored in a Master Catalogue with sub folders for the year and then sub folders for the date.

I found that if I went to the folder for each year and then selected View/Show Items from Subfolders and waited for them to load I was then able to go back anc the search would then work as expected.

I think it's still a work in progress as I've found that quite a few image haven't got keyword attached, my mistake!

Oh well, onward and upward; now to check which images out of thousands need more keywords.
