Question

Batch rename creates copies

Whenever I use the batch rename workflow, Bridge creates appropriately renamed duplicates of my files leaving me with twice as many files and having to go back and manually delete the original files that I ran the workflow on.

I saw this old thread from many years back, but not sure what to do now given current state of the app. https://community.adobe.com/t5/bridge-discussions/bridge-batch-rename-is-creating-more-copies-of-the-same-file/m-p/9236085#M6231.

Please help!

Thanks!

Just to be crystal clear, this isn't the Batch Rename tool run by itself, this is renaming using the Workflow feature. Is that correct?

Ignore that, you posted an update while I was typing my reply.

Correct. If I use the Batch Rename option in the top menu by itself then it
works fine. If I try to use the workflow, because ideally this will be part
of a larger workflow, then it duplicates the files.

This is happening when I try to rename files as well and cannot find a solution. When I batch a group of files with this workflow it keeps the original file and creates a duplicate with the correct changed filename. That is kind of pointless as a 'rename' workflow shouldn't be duplicating anything.

Please post a screenshot showing your batch rename settings.
