Question

Batch Rename in Bridge using sequence letter and number

I am hoping someone can help as I can find nothing on the web.  I am using Bridge and the batch rename facility. Within that facility I can specify a Sequence Letter - what I can't find is a way to specify the start letter that I want it to use. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so how it can be done?

If not does anyone know if I should be able to use two sequence numbers in a single batch rename action?

Thanks

I am not particularly happy about teh sequence letter but have found a way around it with the numbers - thanks for your help

A custom script for Bridge or Photoshop could be used to rename above and beyond what Bridge's Batch Rename tool offers. I'd need some real examples of the before and after filenames to see what's possible if needed.

The sequence letter has no control. It starts at A and then goes up to Z, then goes to AA, AB, AC, etc.

You can use 2 sequence numbers, just use the + plus sign to add further renaming criteria and set each start sequence number as required.

Use the preview button as in the screenshot above to view all files, which isn't always 100% but it's better than nothing.

If unsure, don't rename the originals but work on duplicates. You can also embed the original filename in XMP metadata before renaming which allows you to recover if things go wrong, however, not all file formats accept XMP metadata (for example, GIF doesn't).

@Lywood5D24

To start, can you please type out some examples of the before and after renaming, just 2 or 3 examples should be enough to clarify the pattern required.
