Batch rename still crashes in Adobe Bridge 14.0.1

I was so happy that this version did seem to fix the batch rename bug, but NO.

It only works once at the opening of a clean untouched folder.

If I do use Camera Raw to change the raw photo files and, after that, I try to batch rename the whole or part of it (even only 2), the process gets stuck at 0% and have to cancel it. But then the file has a temporal rename added at its beginning and I have to fix this manually from the finder.

This part is complicated as Raw files have their .xmp attached file with the Camera Raw modifications and also the .acr files if there are masks. ("AdobeBridgeBatchRenameTempxxNameOfTheFile.RAWextension" + "AdobeBridgeBatchRenameTempxxNameOfTheFile.xmp" + "AdobeBridgeBatchRenameTempxxNameOfTheFile.acr")

Also, that's the reason why I can not batch rename in the finder.

Any solution?

Hello @ttoomuch

We really appreciate all your inputs and your help/inputs for debugging the issue. We are able to reproduce the exact issue in one of the scenario but with a minor different setting than the file which you have shared earlier. We are still trying to reproduce it with the file which you have shared. We are working on the issue and will share an update.

Thanks,

Bridge Team

Hi again, Rahul.

Good news! I did re-install my OS from scratch, not using migration help, but re-installing manually all the apps on a clean OS. This did solve the batch rename issue.

Best regards

Same Bridge Batch Renaming issue here too...again, too many time to count now in the last year. It's completely irritating to have to fix all of the files when they are asigned a temp "Adobebridgetemp" prefix on every file, so maddening!

I am experiencing this exact same issue. The batch rename process goes to 91% and then crashes, leaving a few files with the "AdobeBridgeBatchRenameTempxxNameOfTheFile" file name. Re-installing OSX seems a bit extreme as a solution. Is there an update on why this happens or any other way to resolve it without re-installing the operating system? Thanks.

Hello @ttoomuch

Thank you for reaching out to us and apologies for the inconvenience caused. To better investigate the issue, could you please share the following information:

1. Batch rename settings file which you are using to rename the files. You can find the file here ->  /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Bridge 2024/Batch Rename Settings

2. Type and number of files on which you are facing the issue

3. Starting which version of Bridge you start facing this issue?

We might reach out to you for further information, but it would be helpful if you can share the asked details here or with sharewithbr@adobe.com

Thanks,

Bridge team

Hi Rahul, thanks for reaching me up,

1): actually, following the path I get to an "Adobe Bridge 2021" folder not "Bridge 2024" I guess because of maintaining my preferences in the app updates.

Into the "Batch Rename Settings" there´s a file called "!!Last.setting" that I can not attach here because of the file format uploading limitations. I will send it to you by mail

2): I mainly use Bridge as a photography visualizer and camera Raw access to process my pictures. As a wedding photographer, I reorganize and rename the files several times. I organize the job, select and discard, and reorganize for my client to have smooth navigation on the finalized selected pictures.

At first, without any action made on the downloaded pictures, there's no problem renaming those. (download name b.e.: _UZD3098 renamed to Lily&FrankWedding+number)

The problems start normally at the second step, reorganizing in subfolders and after using camera raw that add .xmp and .acr files to the original raw file, in this case, canon Camera extension .CR2 and .CR3

It can be renaming two files or 250, sometimes it works, sometimes in part and sometimes not at all. I usually have to cancel the process that remains stuck at the same percentage. Afterwards, I found the files with the "AdobeBridgeBatchRenameTempxx" added in front and I had to correct it manually.

3): it did start with the 13 version

Thanks for your help, looking forward to reading you.

Best regards

As a work-around, custom scripts can batch rename, however, clear exact sample filenames for the input and output would be required. There are also renaming methods using command line tools.

You may need to rename 3 times for each file extension, which shouldn't be too painful, but this all depends on the naming pattern.

Happy to help, but I have to understand the original and new filenames to test. Can you post a screenshot of the Batch Rename setup in use? Can you show the filename examples, both before and after for say 3 images?

Thanks for your suggestion Steven, but actually my issue should be fixed in Bridge. The point is that I have to re-order my files often, I see that visually. For example, I move file number 6 between 3 and 4. In Bridge I just slide it and then batch rename these 3 files to have them with a new ordered number. This can´t be done in finder when I move more tan one...
