Batch renaming quits

Hello, I've been using bridge for over 10 years now. This issue is a new one for me and has been happening for the last year or so. It's random but often enough to be a nuisance. 

When renaming a folder, the renaming quits part of the way through and hold with the renaming dialog box sticking. I have to force quit Bridge and then my files are partly named and the rest are an adobe extension. Then I have to manually reorder the images and then rename again.
