Bridge 11.0.0.83 Consuming Massive RAM

After using the new Bridge for about an hour, it started giving me "Not enough RAM" errors.  Task Manager showed Bridge consuming over 25GB of memory.  Bridge would not close.  Tried closing it in Task Manager - no luck.  Closed PS, then Bride closed.  Restarted Bridge, it immediately consumed over 24GB of memory.  I rebooted.  Bridge started out with a reasonable 4GB, but grew to over 25GB within 10 minutes.  I have PS memory max set to 21GB.

 

After 30 minutes or so, the entire PC becomes unusable with less than 1% memory available.  Task Manager won't close Bridge - must reboot.

 

PC:

I-7 6800K

32GB memory

Windows 10 Pro 19041.672

    I'm having the same issues as well with the most recent update of Adobe Bridge.  The Memory Error I just received told me Bridge was using 46GB. WTF? This is ridiculous.

    2. Screenshot when you are facing this issue.

    3. Type of files on which you are facing this issue.

    i have more or less the same problem. For some days Bridge 2021 has been using the CPU to the maximum, sometimes coming to freeze the computer. RAM usage is also high.
    Also, high CPU usage is causing the computer's temperature to rise.
    I have an iMac 27 late 2017 with i5 and 24 GB of Ram

    I can see that being issue. Many people have large libraries.

    On my machine I have dual Xeon processors with 32 cores each  so CPU cycles are not a issue.

    Bridge just appears to do a very crappy job of resource management, Especially when it will grab up to 47 GIG of ram and not let go.

    That will freeze 90% of the machines out there.

      Bridge is a nightmare and I spent 2.5 hours with tech support only to finally realize the guy must have been intoxicated.  When he at last managed to get onto my computer, his arrow was all over the place and his "fixes" were repetative to no avail.  And yes, virtually every Adobe update so far has caused me massive problems.  Now, Bridge won't let me delete, either.

      Try resetting your Bridge preferences.

      Delete works on the machines I am running. I assume you are talking about deleting files.

      Here is something I am noticing that I would like people out there check out.

      I am finding that if PS is opening files from " browsing in Bridge" function Bridge memory explodes to 25 gig of RAM The issue I see is Bridge does not release that memory if I close PS when done.

      I have a main storage  drive that has my photo folder on it.

      The folder has 1750 folders 110,000 files   approx 1.22 TB of data

      When I set Bridge on that folder RAM soars to 47 GIG

      If I move it to a smaller folder that committed RAM does not change until I start selecting files in folders. 

      It appears that Bridge tries to load its entire cache system into memory. No wonder people are having issues.

      Hard drive speed or size is not the isssue.

      Can you go into windows system performance and change your system folders and change your performance options.

      Make sure processor scheduling is set for programs.

      Under "virtual memory" see if you can split it up with no more then 15% of your total C: drive size. Split the page file to two or more hard drives.

      Make sure under visual effects its set set for best performance.

      remember from a cache creation stand point Bridge is starting over rebuilding cache.

      If you have Bridge 10 installed, delete it 

      Beyond that yes, its still a pig with new lipstick.

        1. What is the Bridge workflow which you were performing which caused a sudden jump in memory? (any details about the type of assets, type of operations in Bridge, a screen recording if possible as well would be very helpful)
        2. It would also be great if you can share the BridgeLog file located at :
        • MAC - ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ Bridge 2021/
        • WIN - %appdata%\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge 2021

        Varun,

        The sudden jump in memory usage started after I installed 11.0.0.83. I'm
        not doing anything differently than with the previous version.

        Today, I've had Bridge up in one folder for over two hours. Bridge is not
        doing anything that I can detect from the interface, but is consuming over
        16GB of memory, and 70% of the CPU. Disc activity is over 4GB/s. It's
        been doing this constantly for well over an hour. Bridge and PS are the
        only apps running. Bridge is consuming so much system resource that it
        makes editing in PS almost impossible.

        About 3 weeks ago, I was so fed up with Bridge performance that I installed
        this WD Blue 500GB SSD to have enough space to put the folder I am working
        on as well as Bridge cache on a new SSD. Prior to that, I had the Bridge
        cache on a 256GB SSD and the files I am working on a WD Black 4TB hard
        drive. I thought maybe one of the drives was going bad, although Windows
        and other drive benchmarks showed them working correctly. Windows was
        correct - moving the working folder and Bridge cache to a brand new 500GB
        SSD did not improve performance. As of now, the 500GB SSD has 203GB used,
        262GB free. The SSD that I had the cache on before has 81GB used, 141GB
        free.

        I spent the better part of the day yesterday going through all my online
        folders in Bridge 2021 to allow it to do thumbnails and previews on the new
        SDD. Yet, every time I open Bridge, in any folder, it has to "Generate
        thumbnails..., generate previews." There are 2007 items in the folder
        folder I'm working now, with slightly more NEF and ARW files than PSD
        files, and two PSB files. The folder containing these files and the
        Bridge cache are on the same drive - the WD Blue 500GB SSD. It takes
        Bridge over 40 minutes to finish thumbnails and previews in this
        folder - *every
        time I open Bridge!*

        Please help.
