Bridge 13.0.0.562 doesn't see contents of external HDD.

Using a new iMac 24" with M1 chip, and newly downloaded Bridge 13.0.0.562: when browsing, Bridge recognizes my external HDD, but does not see any of its contents.  In Photoshop, I can navigate to the disk, see contents and open files.  How do I get Bridge to recognized my externall HDD contents?
