Bridge 13 update- app quits every time I close using red x

Since updating to Bridge 13, every time I close the app (red x in top left corner) the whole app quits and I have to re-boot! anyone else having this problem? it's very frustrating.

    I would agree, it's like going back to the late 80's before the time of the Mac's multifinder whereby only one application could be open at any one time! I just don't see the benefit of quitting the app when you hit the red close icon, OK you can hide or reduce it to the taskbar but I wonder how many people are just so used to closing the app as part of their workflow, knowing they can simply 'command tab' back to it. To me it just seem so 'untidy'.

    I have the same problem- this is causing a big dealy in my workflow and is very annoying indeed! I also appear to have lost the ability to open another instance of Bridge, which I use for dragging files quickly from one folder to another. A single window paradigm has slowed-up my workflow significantly and I honestly can't see how it's supposed to help?! 
    Thanks Gary @gary_sc for explaining though, do you have any idea if this is a permanent change...or might they re-think? (here's hoping!)

      @Ella5ECF If you look at the Content Panel, note the hamburger menu on the right-hand side (three horizontal lines). To the left of the Hamburger menu, you'll see a plus (+) (red arrow). If you click on that, you'll get a new Content Panel. If you click on the option in the Hamburger menu for a new Content Panel (green arrow), you'll also get a new Content Panel.


      The primary disadvantage of these two options currently is that either will default to a "home" position and are not likely to provide access to the folder you want. Fortunately, for any Content Panel that is active (note the blue square and blue line circling the Panel), if you go to the Recent icon in the icons on top, if you select a folder from there, it will open up in that Content Panel.

       

       

      Likewise, if you select a folder from the Folders Panel. In addition, if you take an image or a folder and drag it to the Bridge icon in the Dock, THAT folder will open in the active Content Panel. Hopefully, soon they will provide both "Open" and "Recent" options in the Hamburger menu.

       

      If you have a folder with other sub-folders, you can always right-click on one of the subfolders, and it can be opened in a new Content Panel

       

      Once you have two or more Content Panels, you can drag from one to the other by simply mouse-down on an image (or all selected images), then move the mouse up to the title area of the other Content Panel to make it the active Panel and release. IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE before you do anything, then Comand/Control-z and you'll be good.

       

      Note also that extra Content Panels can be placed and/or moved to any other location in the Bridge window.

       

      I hope this explains some of the new workflows available to you.

        Thanks so much @gary_sc for the explanation, I really appreciate the time you've taken here. I've tried it out and certainly think it will help as a workaround solution- I'm not an expert by a long-stretch, but it was so easy before and now everything takes much longer!

        I'm confused as to why Bridge is different to all the other apps now- e.g. InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator don't quit when you use the close 'x', so will they follow Bridge and have the same single window functionality do you think?

        Have I missed the point of this change, as I honestly can't see how it improves work for us regualr folks?

        Bridge switched to a single window paradigm. If you close the single window, the app will close. 

        the solution: don't close the window if you don't want to quit the app.  If you don't want to see the window and do not wish to quit, I'd suggest hiding the window.
