Bridge 2020 Mac Mojave won't open AI files. "AIRobin cannot open adobe illustrator document"

opens all other files that have an association in preferences. Only AI files. doesn't matter what version saved as. Bridge CC ver 10.0.3.138. Everything else working right. Illustrator works fine, but I have to dip out to finder to open AI files. just.a.bit.frustrating.

Hi DJ,

I think I understand that you've verified that AI is properly set for file association in the Prefs. (Just verifying the obvious.) Have you tried to reset your Preferences?
