Bridge 2023 issues

Hi, I have installed a new Bridge and unfortunately the changes made to it make my earlier workflow very difficult compared to the previous version:

- Enter works like a cursor in the content panel instead of opening files

- preview colors of photos (all types of files) are completely different than displayed in PS. I tried to change the color spaces of the monitors, but it only introduced chaos and I don't know how to go back to the previous settings

- enlarging the size of the thumbnaili using ctrl + scroll does not work, and the magnifying icon under the panel, e.g. "content", overlaps other icons if it is squeezed, making it impossible to use it

- the overall layout is worse in my opinion and it cannot be adjusted to my requirements and habits

I wanted to go back to the older version, but then the cooperation with the new PS does not work (e.g. image processor) and I think I will have to downgrade the PS to the previous version as well, so these new updates do not make much sense to me.

Do other users have it too?

I would like to add to these issues, something thats making me crazy:

eache time i copy/move , rename, etc. to any file in a folder,

the "folders" pane resets itself and shows me all the way from "desktop", losing from view the current folder I'm working on. And when you have 500+ SKU folders it's really annoying to have to scroll back all the way to the curren folder I'm working on.

Dear Adobe engenieers, please take note:
As my late uncle used to say:  "If it works, doesn't fix it"

That's the main reason I went back to Bridge 12. Is the latest update v13.0.1 still behaving this way?

I'm afraid to install it 13.0.1.
Has anyone tested it in detail?

Hi, @qbishon Many of the issues that have been discussed in these forums have been resolved. Certainly, not all yet, but many have.

I do not have a clue whether the issue(s) that have concerned you have been fixed. But it will not hurt to check by installing this new release.

If you are in the ACC, be sure you are on the Updates tab in the upper left corner. If you are not seeing the Bridge update, please click on the "Check for updates" text in the upper right corner.

If you still do not see anything to update, please quit and restart ACC. This usually gives ACC the appropriate "dope slap."

You do not need to uninstall the 2022 version to install this release.

Unfortunately, after installing both versions at once, 12.0.3 crashes every time I try to preview a photo. Uninstalling 13.0.1 does nothing either. The situation is hopeless, I am stuck with work completely.

Hi,

Many of the issues reported in the thread are fixed in the latest patch release #13.0.1.583. Please install and confirm if that fixes the issue.
You can refer to the issues fixed in the patch at the following link https://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/fixed-issues.html

Thanks,
Bridge Team

Many of the most irritating bugs seem fixed for me.

Ctrl/cmd-scroll to size thumbnails seems to take a lot of 'clicks' to zoom a level, making it feel a bit sluggish.Starting smallest it only takes one 'click'of the wheel, but the larger you get it needs increasingly many clicks. It oddly enough seems tied to how large the content panel is. The bigger it is, the more responsive it seems.`In 'tilde/fullscreen its very responsive, but in make it a third of the screen or smaller and it gets sluggish.

Also, the loupe is still incredibly sluggish/unresponsive. Dragging it is near impossible. (not noted in patch, so expected behaviour, wish it wasn't though).

Workflow > Resize has also issues. It finishes the job but no output files at all.

Hi @Dibek

Could you please confirm for which file format you are trying the resize operation in workflow and what behavior you are observing, that would help to investigate the issue.

Thanks,

Swati

Hi Swati,

I want to batch resize some jpeg files using Workflow. It finishes resizing job, creates a link to a folder where the final files would have been added. But, nothing in there. Folder is empty.

Another Bug.

MacOS Monterey Current 12.x.x

So I have stacked images .Click on the number to open the stack. Bridge used to keep all the stacked images selected. Now it only selects the top image. Trying to select all of the images can be a challenge

If I want to change the star ratings on all (4) of the images and I press the star on the opened stack it selects ONLY the image immediately clicked.

The width (number of images in a row) varies from folder to folder - suddenly it becomres variable in size

Somtimes 5 images, sometimes 4 images

The size of the images in a panel varies dynamically even as I'm watching it with no hands touching mouse or keyboard sometimes obscuring the text belonging to the image above in the previous row

This just gets worse and worse

I write just to acknowledge all of the comments -- and laments. I've been signed up to Adobe with and account and use of PS, Bridge, and more for almost 30 years. I have NOT been a forum regular although I have, from time to time, browsed, usually to look for solutions to whatever odd difficulty I'd fallen into at the moment.

This is different. I posted a couple of weeks back of my frustration with the 2023 Bridge, and I went back to 2022 immediately. The long list of troubles affect me oddly, on one hand confirming that to wait for a better revision is a good idea -- but also by intriguing me to MAYBE reinstall 2023 and give it another shot.

What happens, usually, is that in the  flow of things Adobe hits you with the upgrade or new version announcement out of the blue -- you are in your workflow and •bam• there it is with the temptation to drop everything NOW and get on it. (Adobe not unique of course.) So if you do interrupt what you are doing, or even succumb to that FOMO or just-get-on-with-it sensation, and install the new, and it all goes pretty well, you won't feel too put out that yes you did interrupt something and yes it took a little time to move up to the new version.

So this time, as we all see, Adobe really jumped the shark. Even its contributors grant that much. I'm impressed by the reasonableness among most posters also, and especially with the complaint that hey in this wonderful universe of apps, should it not be doable to have 'both' -- in so many instances of changes that took away something that had been perfectly fine for many -- maybe a majority -- of ongoing users.

Why hadn't the Adobe-ists sat around the coffee table and schmoozed this one to the hilt, before the release?

(Oh. No coffee tables any more. And hard to 'schmooze' exactly -- around a ping-pong table during a match.)

I apologize for slipping towards irony if not sarcasm. I am giving weight to the considerable Bad Thing that has happened with 2023. As we all know.

Curious about an unrelated detail: the email messages that come to my inbox with posts in this thread lack any kind of padding on the left margin. Seems odd. Why? See screen shot--

Am on an iMac running MacOS Monterey 12.2.1

1. The red (Red/Orange/Green) button in upper left. Actually closes and QUITS Bridge.

In PS and previously in Bridge it minimized it but left it Open.

2. It is not possible to add a panel tab to the Content tab (Used to have content and Preview as tabs one could toggle between them in the same basic panel.  Now one has to go to an entirely separate screen with its own content and preview

3. Metadata .

In earlier releases the thing called the Metadata "Placard" would show the exposure, file size and other important info about the selected image. Well after starting Bridge sthis shows up. I've got Metadata on my Essentials screen. But when I go to any other screen (Preview, filmstrip etc) and then return to Essentials the data is GONE and cannot be viewd until Bridge is closed and reopened.  The Metadata sub headings - Properties, Core etc are not sticky and close when one switches screens fri=om say Essentials to Preview and back

4. I'm sure there is more.

Adobe support says many are known issues and Bridge 2023 is "locked"

Fixes not likely before end of month??? Hope they are a lot sooner .Not a happy customer.

Whever approved this release must really screwed up.

Oh .. forgot ... the trash bucket is now called the BIN as in "Move to Bin "

Further evidence this was developped in a vacuum of colonial British English

I'm having the same issue with the incorrect display of colours.

All of my JPEGS look desaturated in the Bridge Preview pane. However in the thumnail the colours look correct. When I open the JPEGS in Photoshop or Preview the colours are fine, so it's just the Bridge Preview pane that is displaying them incorrectly.

Any ideas? I use it all the time for reviewing design files so this is very annoying!

I've given up, returned  to Bridge 2022.  Seems to work with Photoshop 2023.

I was wondering if  Adobe had decided to ditch Photoshop/Bridge and simply market Lightroom?

Hello everyone,

First of all thank you for the detailed feedback & bug reports. We are doing a thorough review of all the threads and the reported issues related to the latest Bridge release.

We understand that the new release has introduced bugs into some of the key workflows that all of you use.
Like we do with any other release, we gather feedback from pre-release users and also run multiple test cycles before pushing a new version out. Starting this year, we also did a public Beta of the upcoming version to gather early feedback. Unfortunately it is clear that we weren't able to catch and address many of the bugs reported here. We will continue to make improvements on all the fronts to avoid such issues going forward.

Having said that, please rest assured that we are working towards prioritizing & fixing the reported issues with utmost urgency. We are also reaching out to a few of you, where we need more help on reproducibility of issues. Looking forward to your support on that front. We will address the issues in a phased manner - and you would see these updates coming fairly soon.

We ideally want everyone to upgrade to the latest version of Bridge soon, because it has useful improvements over the older version. Many users are loving those improvements & we would like to see those new capabilities being incorporated in your workflows as well.

Regards,
Subbi

Thank you so much @Subbi  for listening to our feedback! Very much appreciated! My #1 issue with the latest release is the absense of MULTIPLE WINDOWS. Not having those, and being able to toggle windows by COMMAND + ~ is like removing multitasking from an iPhone or only allowing Photoshop to open one image at a time. Navigating the content tabs with the cursor does not cater to a professional workflow. Keyboard access to opening, closing and navigating MULTIPLE WINDOWS in Bridge is key to such a workflow. If others love the new tabs, maybe you can allow the use of BOTH, much like Safari offering "New Window" AND "New Tab". THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! (Oh and while you're at it, it would help a lot, if the selected tile/folder would be navigatable with the up/down/left/right arrows and not jump arbitrarily/randomly as it does now when returning one folder level back up. Thank you!!! Mac OS 12.6 / Bridge Version 13.0.0.562

After struggling with 2023, I've reverted back as well.
It's glitchy and jittery and nothing works properly.

The most frustrating thing is how my placement jumps around unexpectedly.
I'll be doing a screen-size preview of a photo and hit spacebar to go back to the thumbnail view and be someplace completely different.

What a mess.  I'd be so embaraased if I had worked on this when Bridge 2022 worked fine.

I've deleted Bridge v13.0 and gone back to using Bridge 12.0.3. Unfortunately, when I select Browse in Bridge in Photoshop 2023  it takes me to the Creative Cloud Desktop assuming I want to install Bridge v13.0. Is there an Option/Preference I can change so that Browse in Bridge takes me to Bridge v12.0.3.

I'm using a Windows 10 desktop PC.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.

If you open the Creative Cloud Desktop you will see Bridge. At the RH side click on the 3 dots, which will open a sub menu, click on Other Versions. You will then see a list of all versions of Bridge which you can install.

Yes, but when you try to use PS it makes you update Bridge.
