Bridge 2023, problem highlighting multiple images to open while scrolling

Along with many of the other problems people have been posting about, I'm having problems highlighting large numbers of image to open.  I'm using a Macbook Pro M1 Max. Option/Command while selecting always worked before.  Now anytime I try to add more selections this way, everything else I've selected becomes unselected.  Additionally, scrolling always stalls and prevents me from attempting a group selection all the way to the bottom.

What's my work-around after multiple tries and fist shaking?  I close out Bridge 2023 and open Bridge 2022.  Problem solved.  Ridiculous.
