Question

Bridge 2024 and 2023 still laggy/slow, but Bridge 2022 (12.0.4) works way better

All newer versions of bridge from 2023 to present are laggy as heck. Borderline unusable. These would be versions 13.0 through 14.x. Scrolling and filtering take forever, it doesn't matter if you're working on an SSD, hard drive, external drive, or NAS. It's all just as laggy. No trick in the book sees any improvement. Bridge doesn't care that I gave it a huge cache on an SSD for thumbnails. Still laggs just as bad as default.

Solution: Install Bridge 2022, aka version 12.0.4. All the lag suddenly goes away. I can scroll through a NAS folder of 1,300 raw images like butter.

Adobe seriously needs to figure their stuff out because this is unacceptable. You're telling me a multibillion dollar company can't figure out how to scroll files when their old version could?

If they ever remove version 12.0.4 from the creative cloud install files, our entire workflow is completely screwed.

Had a quick look at the newest version, scrolling and filtering does seem to be a lot faster now. Tried a few folders on both an HDD and NAS with 400-700 raws each.

Thanks for the update.

Everyone agrees. I've had several video meetings with them. apparently it's all down to new code and new foundation they "had" to implement. New system for user interface and so on.

This is the main issue for the horrible performance. So one might say that update broke the one thing Bridge have to be really good at, fast browsing and navigation.

As of now, there is no solution to the problem and we can all look as Bridge beyond V12 as beta for the new foundation they are still trying to get to work.
