Bridge - Camera Raw - adding -2 to file name

Running Bridge v14.1.2.300 on a Mac Pro Intel. OSX 14.6.1.  When I open a RAW file in Camera Raw, Bridge/ACR automatically adds "-2" to the TIFF file name.  This is a new problem, probably related to the latest update.  Any suggestions on how to prevent this will be appreciated!

Hi Mark,

Are there no XMP or ACR files showing up?

Have you tried to convert your raw files to DNG files?

Also, please check if there are any invisible TIF files with the file's name. You can "expose" invisible files by pressing Shift-Command-. (that last one is a period "."). You can undo this by pressing the same keys again.

Hi Mark, this is because there already is a file with the original name in that folder.

If you have a file called "mybestimage.tif" and you create a new image and give that the name "mybestimage.tif," The finder resolves this for you by adding the -2 to the name so you end up with "mybestimage-2.tif."

This will happen with ANY suffix: jpg, tif, psd, etc. These are computer generated, and have nothing to do with the software involved.

I hope that helps

Thanks for your response and suggestion. As far as I can tell there not already a file with the same name in the folder. I have a folder of uniquely named RAW digital camera files. As soon as I open one of the files in ACR, the new TIFF file is named with “-2”.
