Bridge causing havoc on my CPU lately

I have been using Bridge since time began for sorting, rating and filing photos from my dropbox account.
But lately Bride has been causing havoc with my system.
After using the program for a while my Macbook starts overheating and when I check my Activity Monitor the CPU usage is very high. When I checked this evening it was 380.9%, and its been higher in the past.
Why would this start happening now.
No other programs cause these problems on my laptop.
Hope that someone can give me information.
