Hi,

We have released an update to Bridge CC 2018 on 12 Dec. The update build number is 8.0.1.282.

Please try to update Bridge and check if you are still able to replicate the crash.

Thanks,

Deepak Gupta

Hi si-boneGFX,

We have looked at the crash report and would like to know more about the following :

1) Does it crash all the time

2) Do we have some set of fixed steps when it crashes or is it random

3) Does the crash occurs when browsing a particular set of files.

Also can you please allow Bridge to generate preview and thumbnails and then check if you are facing the issue.

Regards,

Abhishek Seth.

Thanks Abhishek Seth.

1) Does it crash all the time

Yes, it does

2) Do we have some set of fixed steps when it crashes or is it random

I'd say that it happens while building thumbnails (that eternal process that must take place every single time Bridge launches)

3) Does the crash occurs when browsing a particular set of files.

Crashes occur as I browse files, look at a file, when it's hidden in the background, etc. Bridge simply crashes all the time. The only way to keep if from doing so is to close the file browser window all together and open it only to look for something, find it and close it again (and hopefully Bridge will not crash in the meantime). This is not new to this last version. This is how Bridge has "worked" for me for as long as I can remember. I've posted questions and commentaries before (here and elsewhere) but no good solution has been offered. Someone suggested that DICOM images (that I manage) may be the culprits but I have never found a way to exclude/ignore DICOM files from Bridge. Another possible culprit that I've read about is the mysterious and mostly useless "AIGSniffer" (why would Bridge associate that app (?) to .ai files? ... but it does) but, again, other than manually associate files the correct way, there's no way to clear that app from the system ...

Uninstalling, dumping and reinstalling the app, its prefs, other system files, etc. has never helped, by the way.

You asked.
