Bridge CC 2018 freezes at Building Criteria step

I'm on a mac running on Sierra, and Bridge CC 2018 freezes at the building criteria.  It was my first time using it after the Bridge update. As a result, I cannot do anything in Bridge now.

What's the solution for this?

I have installed Build 8.0.1.282...  The problem is the same. It takes 12 seconds to display 3 thumb nail images....  I have several hundred folders with just a few image sets in them.... This makes Adobe Bridge unusable. This started happening with the installation of the latest build. Bridge asked if I wanted to compact my Cache. I clicked yes....  Now snails pace.

I have an SSD, i7 Processor, 32GB RAM .. The images are not Huge... 8x12inch 300dpi.

I too am having this issue after updating to Bridge 2018. Bridge 2018 has become unusable.  I never had any issues with Bridge 2017.  I am on El Capitan Mac OS X 10.11.6.  Haven't upgraded yet on my Windows 10 box so I don't know if this problem effects PC as well.

BRIDGE CC 2018 FREEZING

For me, it it is a problem that just started with the recent update to 2018 versions of creative cloud apps.

I also have have updated my MBP to High Sierra.

Thiscould be part of the probleM as Apple has implemented a new file system.

Either way it is a big problem for me. I use bridge for all my asset. Because that’s what you do when you have the creative cloud subscription.

I THINK ADOBE NEEDS TO FIX THE PROBLEM FAAST  WE PAY A LOT IF MONEY TO ADOBE IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY.

IF IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH APPLE THEY WOULD KNOW.

FIX IT PLEASE AND FIX IT FAST!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. I have never been so frustrated with a software app before!!! This really SUCKS!!!!  ADOBE... I have spent hours for a couple of days now on the phone with adobe trying to get various issues fixed without results. Every attendant that "tried" to help me did something different to my computer. I was so sick of it that I thought it was my MAC so I went to the other side and bought a brand new computer WINDOWS which I personally don't like, and had horrible results with photoshop cc2018. Nobody could figure out what was going on with the ICC PROFILES.  So now, I'm returning the brand new computer after 2 reformats and  2 days old. This computer was possessed or something!!! LOL  I've been using computers for a long time and never have had such problems like these. ugh...

Hi Anne,

Please start Adobe Bridge and immediately press Command+Option+Shift until the Reset Settings dialog box appears. Select all three options--Reset Preferences, Reset Standard Workspaces, and Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache--and then click OK.

Also in Bridge Preferences check the option "Prefer thumbnail generation over preview generation".

Regards,

Gautam

I have the same 'Building criteria' freeze fault. I have tried the option you suggest (several times) and the problem persists.

I had that too - it seems the first time you run the prog it simply takes ages to build criteria.

If you go to force quit you'll notice the prog hasn't highlighted in red as it would be if frozen, it is still active, it is just that you can't actually do anything until it clears.

I recommend you do something else for an hour or two and leave it to do its thing. That worked for me so hope it does for you too! I had forgotten that it was still running so downloaded the previous version and did a couple of other jobs - then found bridge was still open so took a look and all was fine.
