Bridge CC2019: Manually Managing Collections Issue

New problem that’s started since upgrading to Bridge CC2019 (v 9.0.0.2014 on Mac OS 10.13.6):

I work with a lot of Bridge Collections at work, and have others send me Collections from a massive image library at work. I also occasionally need to manually manipulate and edit the files to easily alter the locations of images or find missing images.

This means we’re often moving .filelist files in and out of the Collections folder. (Of course, we do all of this when Bridge is closed, then relaunch.)

As of the CC2019 upgrade, making changes in the folder sometimes (most of the time) prevents Bridge from relaunching. No error, crash, stall, or report window. Initially get the bouncing icon in the Dock, then… nothing. Even when restoring any removed files or removing new ones, Bridge refuses to launch.

The only solution so far is uninstalling and reinstalling through the CC app.

When it has launched after a change, Bridge has asked me if I wanted to import preferences from a previous version, even when I’d launched and quit CC2019 several times.

I can’t figure out exactly which changes cause which results despite repeating various actions.

Hi ,

Sorry to hear that you are still facing this issue. However we are not able to reproduce this issue at our end. So request you to provide following info.

1. System configuration.

2. If possible share these .filelist files with us @ sharewithbr@adobe.com

3. Also provide the detailed steps of your workflow.

Thanks,

Avinash

Hello - I'm just getting started with Bridge CC Version 9.0.3.279. A tutorial told me to simply click on the "Collections" tab and then click "+" to make a new folder. However, I do not have a "collections" tab. How do I get it? Does the Creative Cloud cancel it out?

Hi -  thanks for your reply.  In that lower left panel, all I have is a tab for "Metadata." There is no tab for collections. It might be because I'm just starting out and do not have any collections yet. Also, my Bridge CC has the Creative Cloud and I was told I don't need folder/album features because it saves all my originals on the cloud. So do I just delete the ones I don't want? I woudl rather put the ones I don't want aside in another folder/album.

Still doesn’t work after 9.0.1.216 update.

Multiple attempts and uninstall/reinstall variations, keeping preferences, removing preferences during uninstall, trashing preferences — results are pretty erratic. It will often ask me if I want to re-load previous version preferences, sometimes after multiple launches. Eventually, it will just fail to launch.

Seems stable at the moment, as long as I don’t manually monkey with the Collections. This makes it pretty hard for us to share them, though.

Tried a workaround: create a collection in Bridge, quit, manually copy and paste content from another collection. Bridge failed to launch afterwards.
