Bridge CONSTANTLY freezes up for a few seconds

Almost every time I save a new file from any adobe application & if Bridge is open in another window, it will become unresponsive for a few seconds to a few minutes - this happens almost everytime I save a new file that happens to be saved within the same location as the active window within bridge, or even Im not saving a file and just happen to switch to bridge - although to be fair it does happen a lot more often when Im saving a file, PDFs seem to be the worst offender.  This has been happening for months now on my work mac  AND the only fix I have (apart from waiting a minute or two) is to open a new Bridge window from the finder menu, the new window will respond even if the old window is still "unresponsive" this tells me that it isnt because mac is still saving the file or anything like that.
