Bridge crashes right after start up

Question

two days ago I tried to work on some Photo's, Though Bridge crashed right after starting op the programm. It continues doing that up till now. I can see it opening and than it flips away within seconds.

Someone found there is something wrong with my Windows Module. It seemes to be corrupt? Bridge uses that Module for something, I'm told..

First I thought the Hard disk is overloaded so I relocated many files, but it kept on happening. Then I found out Bridge searched for a missing drive, though I think I solved that and still the problem endures. Bridge is Up to Date. I didn't update recently. I have another Windows Machine and on that one, Bridge works fine.

I usually work with DNG from NEF, and also Jpeg and MP4 occasionally.

Everything has worked fine till 2 days ago.

This I didn't know. It has helped, to my big surprise. I'm very gratefull and relieved!

I didn't get a list of the preferences though. I just could klick the checkbox to have them cleared. I clicked Ok and Bridge started. That was it.

When Bridge is suddenly acting weird in most cases it's caused by a corrupt preferences file.

Trashing these preferences often cures the problem. You can do this by holding Shift + Alt + Ctrl when launching Bridge. You have to act quickly or it does not work. You should get a confirmation dialog asking for permission to clear the preferences.

I would advise to make a note of all your preferences before doing this as obviously all preferences are set back to the defaults.
