Question

Bridge Downloader will not preview Nikon Z6 NEF files

I posted on this before and have seen other posts from users with the same problem-never a solution. I just installed Wondows 2004 to a new computer and installed the latest and greatest Bridge/Photoshop. But the Bridge downloader still can not preview Nikon Z6 NEF files and just shows a generic icon,  once downloaded Bridge will preview the files.  Two different computers, two different versions of Win 10, same bug. File explorer shows previews with the Nikon codec installed, The Bridge downloader shows image previews in MacOS using the same storage card and card reader. A first world problem to be sure but annoying. I hate using LR and I could manually download the NEF files but an itch needs scratching.

I am having the same problem with NEF's from my Z5 downloaded to my PC via my card reader. NEF's from my Nikon D750 work as usual in Photo Downloader, showing previews that I can sort through. My Pentax's RAW files alse work.

And I have noticed another problem. I get an error message when I set Photo Downloader to convert my Z5's NEF raw files to DNG.

When I download NEF's to my PC while my Z5 is directly connected, the thumbnails appear as they should. However, I still can not convert my NEF's to DNG when downloading as I do with my D750 and Pentax K-70 raw files.

Directly downloading from the camera may solve the problem.

But it may not.

I use CC PS/Bridge on several computers, both Windows and macOS. While mostly when connecting my Z6 directly shows thumbnails of raw images in the Bridge downloader there have been instances where just the generic icon is displayed instead of the thumbnail.

No consistency so no explanation.

Gotta wonder what Apple is paying Adobe to write tight code for the M1, Adobe does nothing but occasional bug stomps and shovelware for its ancient x86 code base.

Yes, the downloader shows the photos on the card in the camera. I don't want to name a bunch of reasons why I want to use a card reader, not connect the camera to a PC.
Facts:
- windows shows the raw preview on the card in the reader
- Bridge shows a raw preview of the card in the reader
- only Downloader shows a generic icon
Yes, Adobe is lazy.

I have the same problem! Win10 latest version of Bridge and Photoshop. Bridge downloader will only show icons when the card is in the card reader. When I connect a Nikon Z6 with a card inside the camera to the PC Bridge downloader will show photos! Both Bridge and Photoshop normally show nef photos. Please fix this annoying bug.

Hello Adobe, I still have a problem! There have been several updates and the problem is still there. Windows can display NEF photos from Nikon Z6 on XQD card, Bridge will display photos on card. Only Bridge Downloader displays icons not photos. It is very annoying to search for photos to download by numbers! The Downloader behaves the same on a desktop PC and on my laptop. Two different XQD cards and the same result. The problem is not on my side, I think.

I still have this issue with Bridge Photo Downloader not showing Nikon Z6 files, all other Nikons that I own work just fine. It has been over 2 years now with this stupid issue/bug.
