Bridge Freezing Over

I am using CS PS6, with Win 7 Pro, 250Gig SSD and 16Gig RAM, 4 Gig VRAM. Just lately, with no changes to the system, no new programs installed, Bridge has started freezing. For instance it will open at the last folder used, that's normal, but if I try to back up to the parent folder, from User > Photos > May 16 to User > Photos nothing happens. After about 30 seconds the screen turns milky white, and "Not Responding" pops up. Nothing works, can't even shut it down. After about a minute it comes back to life and I get to User > Photos. Now if I try to open User > Photos > Jun 16 Bridge freezes again. And the cycle repeats. When I eventually get to select an image to open it in Camera Raw right-clicking does nothing, and maybe 2 minutes later the menu pops up.

Any suggestions much appreciated,

David

    HI David,

Does this issue only happen when you try to backup this particular folder using Bridge?

Could you try backing up the same folder into desktop and let us know if you're able to save it?

If that doesn't;t help, try out the solutions documented in this article Troubleshoot Adobe Bridge for errors and freezes and report back the outcome.

    Thanks,

I will look at the trouble-shooting and see if anything resolves the issue. Will let you know. Meanwhile this problem is not to do with backing up anything.

So I have just opened Bridge, this is what happened.

It is 'pointed' at the folder that was opened last time I used Bridge (C:\Users\Name\My Pictures\). This is a 600+Mb folder on a 240Gb SSD 60% full, but there are no thumbnail images. 50 seconds later the thumbnails appeared.

I right-click on a thumbnail. Nothing happened. After 60 seconds I clicked on the File Menu. Nothing happened. I clicked several times. Still nothing. 2½ minutes later the screen went milky, and "Not responding" appeared.

After another 3 minutes the milkiness cleared. I clicked on File again, nothing happened.

Clicked again. "Not responding" re-appeared, but 'only' 30 seconds later the File Menu appeared.

I clicked on 'Open with..." and chose Camera RAW.

1 minute and 20 seconds later the image opened in Camera RAW.

One other fact might cast some light on the issue. About a year ago, can't remember exactly when, I found that if I used Bridge to open an image in PS 6 nothing would happen for a minute to 90 seconds, once it did open everything was normal, until I l opened the next image when there was the same delay. Whether this was the beginning of my current problem I have no idea. No changes to the system except the usual updates.

What you've explained should be covered in the link I posted. Let us know the outcome.
