Question

Bridge is not building any cache, or it does so verrrrrry sloooowly, why??

I am trying to build a cache that can be exported and shared among some Bridge users.

The files are all in a network share that is not local to me, but is local to the other users.

I get the folder added into 'Favorites,' Bridge sits forever 'Building criteria...', then it sits for hours longer indexing the files.

This is with the most current Bridge CC 2019 version.

The share contains 400+ GB, 80k+ files...is there any way it can be 'hurried up' so the cache is created within one day??

What are the best cache settings for such a large group of files??

I could never figure out how to make Bridge work quickly over a network.  Caching didn't really seem to help.

so I added external HD to my computer and have in Sync to the server now... I work from that HD, and sync it when i need to or every 1h.  this is fast, and Cache becomes less of an issue.  This is Just an idea for you if you still find things too slow.

However, In my experience, dealing with Cache in the 100's of GB, can take hours on some systems. I not sure about bridge, and what it is creating, but if you have it creating full previews not just thumbnails this is going to take a LONG time.

I could be wrong, but you want to be sure you have checked Thumbnail generation preferred over Preview generation.

This is kind of helpful for one single user, I can't tell if it would work for two or more users.

We were hoping to have Bridge work properly as desired for two people who need to work with the same images, one of them most of the time, the other one just occasionally to put on tags and such, the other person would do most of the file management.

Thumbnails is selected...I'm trying to just create the images files cache then export it to their local network drive so they can use it and it maintains itself.

Do you know why Bridge starts over again each time wrt creating the cache??

It should logically pick up where it left off...very inefficient if the cache must be recreated every time they open Bridge.

I ran the Bridge CC update that was available.

Creating the cache is going a bit faster now...up to 4888 files then stopped going so fast, I don't know why.

But I could start again tomorrow and maybe it would pick up where it leaves off.

What is the folder location???? for cache??
